Tonight at our beloved Glasslands Gallery Jonquil and Keep Shelly in Athens will be kicking off a 7 date U.S. tour. This is KSiA’s first U.S. tour after a protracted period of anticipation. I first heard of the band about two and a half years ago when their image and identity was very much shrouded in mystery. Were they truly from Athens? Who the fuck is Shelly/why is she so important? Is Shelly a concept or a euphemism, like ‘Joy’ or ‘Molly’? What is the meaning of life?
Well, the veil has been lifted and, though we never found concrete answers to these questions, we won’t be needing them to enjoy ‘Shelly’ tonight. Jonquil will be direct support, which is to say, right before Keep Shelly. The boys are fresh off of a songwriting Hajj to the Adirondacks where they enjoyed the crisp fullness of that region and thrived off of its posi-vibes and loon calls to create the templates for what will eventually become the new full-length. Expect great things!
